Royal Style at the 2011 Epsom Derby

It was a grand old day out for the Royals this weekend at the Epsom Derby. Seldom have we seen such a relaxed, easy going social outing from this lot. The spirit of the recent nuptials seems to have buoyed them up and made for a family gathering of great joy and laughs. And for once, good style too.
Let's start with Princess Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge (aka Kate Middleton), as we surely must these days. The good includes the gorgeous little mocha hat, a new pair of nude shoes (can you believe it! Kate has bought a new pair of shoes) from LK Bennett and the beautifully fitted cream jacket/cardigan from Joseph. All of these are wonderfully modern elements and just right for the season. The less good includes the cream chiffon dress from Reiss, worn underneath, which is a smidge too short and too nighty. And of course the tan pantyhose. I know she has to, when wearing such a sort dress. But then change the dress is what I would suggest. Urgh. Will I ever get used to it?
Please look at how wonderful HRH Queen Elizabeth II looks in her fuschia ensemble. A delight. And Beatrice and Eugenie also look charming. I would have lost that ankle strap, Eugenie, but otherwise a gorgeous display of modern royal femininity. Happiness.
