Royal Wedding Style: Kate's Effect on Fashion

She is not even a princess yet, but Kate Middleton has already made her mark on the fashion world. That £650 Burberry trench she wore last week - sold out in a day. Boom! And that was just the latest in a long line of sales peaks as a result of Kate wearing a garment.
It started a few years ago on her 25th birthday when she wore a Topshop frock that sold out as soon as she was seen in it. A much-copied French Connection frock followed. And it has only escalated from there. Last month, Kate wore this black velvet Libelula coat to a wedding - it now has a waiting list of three hundred names. It will be summer before some people get theirs, and yet they still wait.
It is going to be a fun ride these next few years. As soon as the wedding is over, I think we will start a Princess section of the blog to track her style and the full impact of what she wears on the fashion world. It is going to be fascinating.
By the way, this weekend she and her sister had lunch with Prince William in London and she wore a black dress and some cute tan kitten heels. She teamed it with that dubious Whistles jacket she has been wearing lately, which I am less keen on, but I am quite taken with her quirky heels. What do you guys think? Comments?
